Just last Wednesday on 9 Sep, Mr Jeffery Kuok, a pickleball enthusiast, shared that he regularly plays in two open courts in Jurong West and had been lobbying with the Town Council to mark Pickleball Lines on those courts. Citing the 5 recently painted courts in Bedok North as a precedent case, the kind people of Jurong Spring Zone A Residents' Committee reached out to the Town Council to allow tri-purpose usage of existing courts benefiting the collective residents. Jurong West Town Council was convinced by the Residents' Committee EXCO to recognise pickleball’s presence in the community and granted permission on 10th Sep to mark the courts.
We would like to express our most heartfelt appreciation to Mr Gan Wei Sheun, Vice Chairman of Jurong Spring Zone A Residents' Committee, as well as the EXCO Member Mr Tay Chai Yee for their invaluable support and help extended to make this happen. Finally, to Mr Jeffery Kuok, for his innocent act of generosity to simply wanting to share a space with the community.
We hope Jeffery's initiative and effort will encourage more players to come forward with locations frequented by players and together we may approach the Town Councils and their Grassroot Advisors together as Residents and Association.
